TrueView in CS2: Everything About the New Feature
Starting from November 2025, you can watch and share CS2 demo playback with the player’s original perspective. The feature is called TrueView, and it can be pretty helpful for a big variety of Counter-Strike players.
How does TrueView work?
When you activate TrueView for your demo playback in CS2, you can see the accurate recreation of the player’s experience. Everything in these demo clips is how it is viewed on the client’s side.
Previously, the CS2 demo playback system was based strictly on the server’s perspective. Therefore, clips could represent matches somewhat falsely—and even make players look stupid with their inaccurate actions.
CS2 TrueView totally solves this potential issue. These demo playback clips show the events from the player’s point of view with client-based damage prediction.
How to use TrueView in Counter-Strike 2
For the playbacks registered after the update from Nov. 4, 2025, TrueView is activated automatically. It’s disabled for older demos.
To turn on the TrueView feature manually, you can use the game interface or enter special console commands.
- In Counter-Strike 2, open a demo.
- Enable TrueView in the demo interface.
- Enjoy the clip from your or another player’s perspective.
The TrueView CS2 console command has three values.
- cl_demo_predict 0: TrueView disabled.
- cl_demo_predict 1: CS2 demo playback runs with TrueView.
- cl_demo_predict 2: This command forces TrueView for older demo playback.
In the official post, Valve warns about possible differences between the demo and the player’s experience. These differences are very notable in slow motion.
The advantages of CS2 TrueView
For serious competitors, esports analysts, and content creators, it’s a really good feature.
- You can dive deeply into your matches and see what really happened from the perspective of your teammates and opponents. It’s especially great when you play within a stable team, as you can improve your actions in further matches.
- It could be interesting to break down wow moments at top-level CS2 tournaments and see the amazing skills of esports professionals.
- For detailed YouTube videos, CS2 TrueView is a source of accurate clips to highlight real events in matches.
Having TrueView in Counter-Strike 2 saves the community from emotional discussions. There should be no more controversial clips where shots kill when they shouldn’t even land, or when players survive when the AWP’s scope was right on the head. That happened because of the difference between the client’s and the server’s perspectives, and TrueView is made specifically to solve this.
