CS2 Update Adds Cache to Competitive and More
After teasing the addition of Cache to CS2, Valve released this map to the official matchmaking. It’s the biggest part of the update from April 29, 2026—and the community is really excited about it.
Cache is available in a few game modes: Casual, Competitive, Deathmatch, and Retakes. The map is still not in the Active Duty pool, therefore we will not be able to see CS2 esports matches on Cache during the IEM Cologne Major season.
Other changes in this CS2 update include a slight fix on Dust II.
- Xbox on Mid is uncovered to reveal a hidden jump spot.
CS2 Cache is Close to the CS:GO Original Version
To make Cache look like a proper CS2 map, Valve has done a great job of modernizing the textures and lighting. The current version looks very detailed and realistic. It is somewhat darker than the original map, but with wider spaces in various locations—at least visually.
As for the practical gameplay adjustments, Valve has blocked the Mid window, changed some vehicles, and removed a fire barrel around B. Beyond that, Cache brings very familiar team strategies and personal plays from CS:GO. The community is yet to discover the unique features of CS2 Cache.
Traditionally, with the addition of a map to the Active Duty pool, the game should receive new skins themed around it. We can expect the Cache 2026 collection to be available on the CS2 skins market in the next Premier season, reportedly starting in July 2026.
