EA Founder and Game Industry Legend Trip Hawkins Joins DMarket

Best known as the founder of Electronic Arts, 3DO, and Digital Chocolate, Trip has been leading innovative global companies for over three decades. Due to his enormous contribution to the gaming and tech industries, he was among the first to be inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame.

From Apple to the Stars

Following his passion for gaming and strategy, he designed and produced his first game when he was just a teenager.

Bringing into play his outstanding vision, Trip joined Apple when it had only 25 employees and 13 successful PC sales. As the company’s Director of Product Marketing, he worked closely with Steve Jobs and other founders to grow Apple into a global tech leader with 4,000 employees.

In 1982, Trip founded Electonic Arts. As a creator and gaming innovator, he personally produced and designed Madden Football and the EA Sports brand. As the CEO, Trip led EA for over a decade, turning it into an industry powerhouse while laying the foundations for the company’s current 34 billion valuation.

Trip Hawkins also founded and led the 3DO Company that enriched the gaming world with the first 3D graphical MMORPG Meridian 59, the beloved and celebrated series Might & Magic, and other gaming hits of the 90s and 00s.

As the founder and CEO of Digital Chocolate, Trip contributed to the rise of mobile gaming with trendsetting titles that have accumulated more than 200 million mobile/web downloads.

Along with bringing fun and innovations to gamers across the world, Trip has pioneered and expanded numerous industries and areas including the internet, GPUs, 3D engines, cloud services, digital media, social media, mobile apps, eSports, free to play games, virtual goods economies, VR, AR, and Games as a Service. He also contributed to the emergence and growth of new tech sectors such as sustainability, organic food, EdTech, FinTech, ergonomics, and drones.
