CS2 Update: C4 Defuse Adjustments and Map Scripting
On October 14 and 15, 2025, Valve released two updates, one after another: pre-release, and final versions. They are almost identical, with the final release having a couple more features.
Gameplay
For many players, the most interesting part is connected to the C4 defuse. The game has adjusted the viewmodel during this process.
- While defusing, a CT player has their weapon lower. They cannot scope.
- After exiting defuse, the following shot is delayed by 150ms.
- There is no more C4 detonation after the match and in between the halves.
In the gameplay department, this CS2 update fixes situations when the console command sv_predictable_damage_tag_ticks 1 incorrectly subtracts 1 tick.
Technical Update
The game engine of Counter-Strike 2 has been updated to the latest version of Source 2.
- Simulation of bullet penetration and the various shooting effects consume less CPU power now.
User Interface Improvements
One of the recent CS2 updates, named Show Off, added the skins inspection feature to the Spectator mode. Now, Valve has improved other UI features.
- The Spectator Loadout has Major highlight clips.
- There are no raindrops on weapons when inspecting them in a dry place.
- The position and visibility of some HUD elements are improved.
