The CS2 Re-Retakes Update Adds Trade Up Contracts for Knives

On the official Steam page, Valve has marked this CS2 update as a small one. It’s quite true for the gameplay side of things: the Re-Retakes update is mainly about bringing a classic game mode back. However, there is much more in there, and it’s all about the most desirable items, CS2 knives.

Trade-Up Contract to get a CS2 knife

Thanks to this update, you can receive a knife by exchanging five items of the Covert quality. The rules are extremely simple.

• You get a StatTrak™ CS2 knife for five StatTrak™ Covert skins.
• You get a usual knife or a pair of CS2 gloves for five usual Covert skins.

A knife drops from the collection that one of the trade up skins belongs to.

What Does it Actually Mean?

This new feature opens a new way of receiving CS2 knives. Now, they are available from the cases, via the marketplaces, and from trade-up contracts. The rarest and most expensive items have become more accessible. Sure, the price of Covert skins for such trade-up contracts is not low. Still, the deal could be profitable—but the market will certainly respond with a decrease in the knives’ prices.

Gameplay Aspects of the Re-Retakes Update

As for the actual Counter-Strike 2 action, the update’s added the Retakes game mode to the official matchmaking. The Retakes CS2 mode is a great way to practice post-plant situations. The bomb has been planted. You can select one of the available loadout cards and try to defuse C4 or defend the bombsite.

Other things here are rather minor. It’s a pretty standard practice for small CS2 updates, like the previous one that affected C4 defusal.

• Optimizations and visibility improvement on Inferno.
