A Call to Arms Update: The First Ever CS2 Case and More

What makes you more excited about CS2 updates: practical gameplay improvements, or new skins and customization options? Well, why not both?! We’ve got exactly such a package with the most recent Counter-Strike 2 update A Call to Arms.

Let’s take a look at what it brings to the game. In this post on DMarket Blog, we’ve highlighted the biggest changes and summarized the most important gameplay adjustments.

Arms Race

This mod returns to Counter-Strike! Arms Race has some new features in CS2, but the core rules are the same:

  • There are two traditional teams, CT and T, with six players in each;
  • Everyone has a starting weapon, and after two kills with it, the weapon changes to the next one;
  • A player who reaches the ultimate weapon, a knife, brings victory to their team;
  • The weapon rotation progress doesn’t reset with getting killed. It only resets with a knife or Zeus kill.

Two kills to switch the weapon, and Zeus to reset the progress, are new features to CS2 Arms Race. The mode has two maps: Baggage and Shoots.

Playing Arms Race in Counter-Strike 2 can be beneficial to improve your skills with various CS2 weapons, have varied warm-up sessions, or just enjoy casual fun in the game.

The Kilowatt Case

We get a new weapon case for the first time in the new era of Counter-Strike. The release of the Kilowatt Case is quite a historic moment. Let’s appreciate it!

The CS2 Kilowatt Case may drop one of 17 skins or (if you are very lucky) a brand new Counter-Strike knife, Kukri.

Kukri Knife

It’s not every day we have a new CS2 knife!

In the real world, Kukri is used for various ceremonies, such as weddings. In Counter-Strike 2, the Kukri Knife has 12 types of finishes (skins), such as Crimson Web, Case Hardened, and Fade. It’s a Rare special item in the Kilowatt Case.

Five Stickers. Anywhere!

With the CS2 update A Call to Arms, we can place up to five stickers on a weapon skin (instead of four). And there are no specific spots for this—attach a sticker wherever you think it looks best on a CS2 skin, and rotate or flip it in the process.

It’s a wonderful new feature that opens new customizing opportunities. We at DMarket are enjoying it a lot.

The First Skin for Zeus x27

We don’t often see it used in CS2, in either casual or pro matches. But can this change now, with Zeus x27 getting its first ever skin? It is also part of the Kilowatt Case (Classified, Legendary quality).

Now, CS2 Zeus x27 supports name tags and can be a place for your stickers. The weapon has been buffed: it recharges in 30 seconds in every game mode.

Ambush and NIGHTMODE: Stickers and Music

The collection of items in Counter-Strike 2 gets two great containers:

  • Ambush Sticker Capsule—with 21 new stickers;
  • NIGHTMODE Music Kit Box—containing six Music Kits.

Will NIGHTMODE make it to our list of the best Music Kits in Counter-Strike?

XP Overload Icon

There are various ways to prove your dedication to CS2. It is now possible to show everyone that you’ve got the max weekly XP and still continue to play.

The CS2 update A Call to Arms has introduced a XP Overload icon that appears near a player’s name in their profile, kill-feed, and scoreboard.

Agents’ Despair

If you lose a CS2 match (no worries, it happens to everyone, it’s part of the learning), your Agent will demonstrate disappointment and even despair.

The animation looks cool, but it’s important not to dive into these emotions—let the Agent feel this agony of defeat, while you are preparing for the next match.

Gameplay Changes

In addition to new items, animations, and game modes, CS2 gets some practical improvements. All Release Notes for the update A Call to Arms can be found on the official site.

In general, we can highlight these:

  • Many changes to Anubis, Inferno, and Mirage;
  • Smoke casting shadows;
  • Reduced advantage to peekers;
  • Slight adjustments to the user interface,
  • A button to Refund All in the purchase menu;
  • Some networking improvements.

This update is simply great! We can’t wait to enjoy the chaotic shooting in the Arms Race mode. And we sure expect pro players to show new skins from the Kilowatt case at the biggest CS2 esports events of 2024.
