CS:GO in the USA – ESL One: New York 2018

On September 26-30, New York hosts a big CS:GO Esports tournament of the ESL One series. Six world-famous teams will fight it out to determine who takes the biggest slice of the $250,000 prize pool.

This event starts just a week after Faceit Major: London 2018, a Valve sponsored tournament.

Tournaments of ESL

ESL, also known as Electronic Sports League, is one of the biggest organizers of Esports events. Annually it conducts competitions of various series, like ESL National Championships, ESL Pro Leagues, and ESL One, covering the most popular multiplayer games: Dota 2, Overwatch, CS:GO, Rocket League, Hearthstone, and others (maybe, Artifact will join this list too).

ESL One hosted five of Valve sponsored CS:GO Majors: two in Katowice (2014, 2015), and three in Cologne (2014, 2015, 2016). The first Major in 2019 will also be conducted by ESL but under the title Intel Extreme Masters – IEM Katowice Major 2019.

In 2018, Esports fans are enjoying three ESL One CS:GO tournaments:

  • ESL One: Belo Horizonte – June 13-17, won by FaZe Clan;
  • ESL One: Cologne – July 03-08, won by Natus Vincere;
  • ESL One: New York – September 26-30.

The Tournament Scheme

Eight teams at ESL One: New York are divided into two groups:

Group A:

  • Natus Vincere;
  • mousesports;
  • Fnatic;
  • Gambit Esports (winners of the European Qualifier).

Group B:

  • FaZe Clan;
  • Team Liquid;
  • G2 Esports;
  • NRG Esports (winners of the North American Qualifier).

ESL One NY 2018 Teams Matches of the Group Stage will be Best of 3, double-elimination format. Two top teams proceed to the Playoffs. First games will be:

  • Na’Vi vs Gambit (11:00 AM EDT, Sep 26);
  • Fnatic vs mousesports (11:00 AM EDT, Sep 26);
  • FaZe vs G2 (2:50 PM EDT, Sep 26);
  • NRG vs Liquid (2:50 PM EDT, Sep 26).

Semifinal games (Bo3) and the Grand Final (B05) will take place in Barclays Center, on September 29-30.

To watch Live Streams of ESL One: New York 2018, visit the official Twitch or YouTube channels.

No matter how prestigious this tournament is, some great CS:GO teams will miss it. For example, Astralis, winners of ELEAGUE CS:GO Premier 2018, and North, winners of DreamHack Masters Stockholm 2018.

ESL One: New York is a part of Intel Grand Slam Season 1, as all ESL and DreamHack events are. The first team, who get four victories in these series will win $1,000,000. Among the participants of ESL One: New York, three are contenders for this money: FaZe, Na’Vi, and Fnatic.
